CIVIL WAR PATRIOTIC / POLITICAL POSTAL ENVELOPES / COVERS, LOT OF 22 (UPDATED 6/6/17), postally unused, comprising mainly pro-Union or satirical anti-Confederate examples, including three colored examples, one of these features a man swinging a hammer atop a flagpole with caption "We have nailed our color to the mast", and another features a bald eagle atop a U.S. flag pulling feathers from a bleeding chicken labeled "secession"; non-colored examples include "Baltimore Quiet", and purple-printed "The Capitol at Washington." Circa 1865. 2 5/8" x 4 3/4" to 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" OA.
Excellent condition overall, toning to the purple "The Capitol at Washington" example renders most of image green.
