Acrylic on heavy watercolor paper, untitled composition, attributed* to/in the manner of Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011). Signed and dated '66. Approximate dimensions: 11 3/4 x 11 1/4 inches. Excellent condition (having been stored in a semi-fitted box in a moth-fumigated environment to protect against paper beetles and silver fish.) Unframed. Part of an original collection comprising 16 similarly sized paintings, possibly created for a project of some kind.

Lot Note: A single-line handwritten note that was stored with the collection of paintings reads: "H. Frankenthaler (Mitchell/Huntington bk prj) exh. mono's/ Stamf./ G'wich. '66/67" Nothing accompanied the note explaining its meaning or relationship to the watercolors.

Provenance: Possibly acquired directly from the artist by the former owner, although this has not been verified.
