Roger Francois, (Haitian), 1928-2013, double sided painted & carved wood screen, polychrome painted figures of nudes, fish and mermaid, signed "Roger Francois, Haiti", 67-1/2" x 61-1/2", good condition, splits in wood panels. Roger François was born in Petite-Riviere de l'Artibonite, Haiti, in October, 1928. Before becoming a painter, François was a sculptor and student of Odilon Duperier. François is a houngan, and needless to say is deeply involved in Vodou in his daily life and in his art.
