Description
An Amlash Rhyton in the form of a kneeling bull, c. 1400 - 1000 BC, the vessel nicely formed, the head with large curved horns and rounded eyes, the mouth a small pouring spout. The legs are well-modelled and extend underneath the body, on back a tall spout with flared mouth, a single handle behind. A pleasing example of this type of ritual with much eye appeal! L: 9 in (24.7cm), H: 10 3/5 in (27cm). Surface deposits throughout. Ex Howard Sirak collection, Columbus, OH.
