Description
"Head of Coco", 1958 Alva Studios Metropolitan Museum of Art replica after French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), from the original bronze at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The sculpture is made of "alvastone" a high-density casting material derived from gypsum, made with granite, marble or other stone combined with a catalyst which toughens the material to help make it long lasting, takes various metal or stone finishes. On black plaster base. Marked with incised Renoir signature, foundry mark for 1958 Alva Studios. Roughly 16 1/2" x 7" x 7 1/2". Good condition, chip to base.
