Description
1821 Travels of Antenor in Greece Asia Greek Mythology French Etienne Lantier 3v
“It is sufficiently clear, that ‘The Travels of Antenor’ are elegant and spirited; but we could quote as many more, to prove that they are tainted by the most contagious [of] immoralities.” ― ‘Anti-Jacobian Review’, 1800. (vol. 6, p. 11)
Etienne-François de Lantier was an 18th-century French author most known for this work of Greek mythology, “The Travels of Antenor”.
In the mythology of the Trojan War, Antenor was a counselor to King Priam of Troy. He was the wisest of counselors until he became a traitor benefitting the Greeks. While a relatively unknown mythological character, he does appear in Virgil’s ‘Aeneid’, Chaucer’s ‘Troilus and Criseyde’, and even one of the circles of Hell in Dante’s ‘Inferno’ is named after him.
