Description

15th C. Chinese Ming Dynasty XuanDe reign period bronze covered censer. Cast with tappered globular body raised on three cylindrical tall foot, flanked by a pair of curved up swept handles on the sides, extended to give widely appearance. The domed lid with open-work carved hard wood of rococo lotus sprigs, crowned with red-coral pinnacle finial. Displayed elegantly upon carved hardwood stand in tri-foil lobed petal ruyi motif.

Mark on base, a protudging six script -KaiShu- characters within receded square border, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming, and of the period (1425-1435)

PROVENANCE:
The private collections of Earl Sorensen, based out of Atlanta, is known as a prominent Buddha collector. A International businessman whom trades with various Asian countries during the 1960s. On a business trip in Western China, he received a Buddha statue as gift from a monk. Since then, he has became fascinated with Buddhist artifacts and Eastern cultures. After many decades, Earl Sorensen has planned his retirement, and decided to pass his beloved collections to appreciate collectors. Earl Sorensen's collections can be found from Lot-55 through Lot-65, and from Lot-93 through Lot-110.

Condition

EXCELLENT condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or patinated, some corrosion of molted green-grayish crusted surface. Normal, considering ages and wears.
