Description
SKYLAB IV: Signed colour 10 x 8 photograph by all three crew members of Skylab IV individually comprising Jerry Carr (1932- , Commander), Ed Gibson (1936- , Science Pilot) and Bill Pogue (1930-2014, Pilot). The dramatic official NASA image shows the launch of the Skylab IV/Saturn 1B space rocket from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, on 16th November 1973. Signed by each of the astronauts in black inks to clear areas of the image, Gibson adding an inscription and the mission name Skylab III in his hand beneath his signature. A couple of very light, minor surface creases, VG Skylab IV was the third manned Skylab mission and placed the final crew aboard the first American Space Station. The three manned Skylab missions were officially designated Skylab II, III and IV and mis-communication over the numbering resulted in the mission emblems reading Skylab I, Skylab II and Skylab III respectively, and also accounts for Gibson's notation of Skylab III on the present photograph.
