Hungary versus Austria Chess Set , circa 1930

The Austrians are represented in white with blue detail, the King with a pipe, Queen wearing a headscarf standing arms akimbo, Bishops are drummers, Knights stand with their horses, Rooks are soldiers at guardhouses, while Pawns wear cloaks as they stand with their staves. The Hungarian side is white with pink detail, more formal King with layered beard holds scepter, Queen stands with folded arms wearing a cape, learned Bishops hold scrolls, Knights stand in front of their horses, Rooks stand guard atop their towers, while Pawns are maidens with clasped hands. Figures are of the Herand porcelain factory 1897-1935 trademark.
K is 8.5 cm high, and Pawn 5.4 cm high
