AMERICAN STAR PIECED QUILT, having a star pattern within circular medallions in each block made up of polychrome solid and patterned fabrics mostly cut into triangles, thick batting, dark colored thread used for stitching. Possibly Tennessee. Second or third quarter 19th century. 67" x 78".
Overall very good condition with several minor areas of wear and deterioration including one to edge, scattered stains and areas of moderate toning.
Provenance: From a Rockbridge Co., VA private collection.
Catalogue Note: Quilts with colored thread are often associated with Tennessee origin.
