Description
Southeast Asia, Laos, Neolithic period, ca. 100 BCE and Europe, Denmark, Neolithic period, ca. 3900 to 1700 BCE. The hand axe, also known as a celt, was a widely used tool throughout much of human history. It also frequently had a ceremonial purpose and was buried with its owners. Here are three fine examples, two, larger and darker, made from river-cobble-like stones, from ancient Laos, and one, made from a grey chert, is Danish. Size of largest: 4.9" L x 1.8" W x 0.7" H (12.4 cm x 4.6 cm x 1.8 cm)
