Description
A French majolica oyster plate made by Longchamp, circa 1880-1885. A central sauce well is surrounded by six scallop edged wells. Highly dimensional mold work. Beautiful coloring graduating from turquoise to navy to a cobalt blue and terminating in a shell pink rim. Marked with an impressed mold number and a painted initial, the glazer’s mark. Measures 8.50"x8.50"x.75". Weight 15 oz. Book reference – Karsnitz pg.46. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston, SC Collection.
