Description
Two Western theme watercolors by Oklahoma artist Craig Sheppard. Sheppard attended the University of Oklahoma during the 1930s where he was commissioned under the New Deal arts program to create a series of seven murals. He has since then been a prolific artist primarily associated with works of a Western theme. According to an inscription on the back side of one, this pair of watercolors hung in the lobby of the Meadow Acres Ballroom in Topeka, Kansas. The ballroom opened in 1939, each of these is signed and dated 1940. Sheet sizes 15 x 20 and 15 x 22.5 inches, frames measure 27.5 x 33 inches each.

Condition
The condition is apparently good, noting that they are in their original circa 1940 mounts and have not been examined outside the framing. There are no visible issues of damage or repair
