Description
Allain Manesson Mallet (1630-1706) was a French cartographer and engineer. His major publication "Description de L'Univers" (Description of the World) was first published in 1683 and includes a wide variety of information such as star maps, maps of the ancient and modern world, and descriptions of the customs, religion and politics of the many nations explored in his text. Mallet himself illustrated most of the figures engraved for his books.
