Description
Medieval Middle East, Turkey/Persia, Seljuk Empire (sometimes Seljuq), ca. 10th to 12th centuries CE. A cast iron hook, used as a cabinet hook or trunk latch, in the form of a proud rooster, standing atop the hook with a huge, drooping collection of tail feathers, a large crest, and nice feathered details on its back. A hole has been drilled through the top of the hook, probably to connect it to a larger mechanism. Size: 2.25" W x 3.75" H (5.7 cm x 9.5 cm)
