Description
**Previously listed at 100**
Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. A finely carved stone canopa or votive offering of an unusual animorphic form (not the typical camelid) with a hollowed out hole on the back used to make offerings to Pacchamama in order to ensure fertility and a healthy harvest. The opening would have been filled with tallow and buried in the field. Canopas were also regarded as prized personal items, carried by their owners as good-luck talismans.
