Item Details
Description
Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1543 to 1077 BCE. A terracotta female figure once covered in a beautiful turquoise faience, standing erect with arms at her sides and feet together upon a plinth, presenting a characteristically stiff stance deemed ideal to safeguard the eternal presence of the ka or spirit by the ancient Egyptians, and a tranquil visage framed by a tripartite coiffure. Thermoluminescence testing has established this piece to be 3400+ years old. Size: 11.375" H (28.9 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) and has been found to be ancient, and will be accompanied by a report confirming its age. A figure very similar in body shape but made of wood is on display at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
