Description
Central Asia, India, ca. late 19th century CE. A cast bronze statue of the goddess Durga, depicted here with eight arms, each one holding one of her sacred implements. She wears a distinctive, Devo-style conical hat and flowing robes, and stands with her vahana, her sacred mount, a tiger, seated at her feet. Durga, whose power is to preserve the moral order and righteousness in creation, is very popular in the Hindu faith. Size: 2.85" W x 3.95" H (7.2 cm x 10 cm)
