Title: Archive of ten original blueprints for the King's Daughters' Home in Honolulu
Place Published: Honolulu, Hawaii
Publisher:Ripley & Davis, Architects
Date Published: 1915
Description:
On December 1911 King's Daughters' Circle purchased the site on the Kaimuki, (Honolulu) tract fronting the main Waialae road to build King's Daughters' Home. It occupied the block from Fourth to Fifth avenue. In 1914 the organization of King's Daughters engaged H.L. Kerr ( 1863-1937), an architect who has designed a number of the finest buildings in the city. At the time of his death in 1937, he had designed more than 1,000 buildings in Hawaii and was the only architect to continuously reside and operate his own office in the Islands throughout the first three decades of the 20th century. H.L.Kerr hired L. C. Davis & C. B. Ripley for all works. In the 1920s and 30s , Louis Davis designed many homes and public buildings in Honolulu, and was well known for his work in the Spanish Colonial/Mission Revival style. The King's Daughters' Home was opened July 1st, 1916.
