English, likely early to mid 18th century. A transitional Queen Anne style walnut and walnut burl chest on stand, having a molded cornice, three short over four long graduated drawers, each with decorative line inlay and later brass hardware, with a scalloped apron with applied cock beaded molding, on four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 64.75", width 39.25", depth 22.25". Includes receipt of purchase.

Wear commensurate with age and use. Chips, cracks, seam separation, and losses to veneer overall. Shrinkage cracks along grain to sides, gapping to drawers. Veneer is warped in places. Chips, scratches, abrasions, and water staining, with some repairs and some losses. Patched repairs to drawer faces and case where veneer has popped off and been reglued. Interior appears to be largely untouched. All locks are intact. All hardware replaced. Possibly had drops to apron originally.
