Description
After Lieutenant Joseph Moore, "View of the Great Dagon Pagoda"-1825, plate 16 from the work "Rangoon Views, and Combined Operations in the Birman Empire", etching and aquatint with hand coloring on paper, published by Kingsbury & Co., Leadenhall Street and Thomas Clay, Ludgate Hill, London, engraved by Thales Fielding. Work titled at lower center margin "View of the GREAT DAGON PAGODA and adjacent Scenery taken on the Eastern Road from RANGOON", plate number "16" upper right. Period print depicting a landscape with green palm trees and plants, large figural sculpture of a mythical beast at left, man in blue jacket, top hat and holding sword admiring the work; architecture with small pagodas lead to central focus of the Great Dagon Pagoda. Framed approximately 15.5" x 19.25". Sight size approximately 13" x 16.75".
