Description
Howard Miller (American, founded 1926), fourth quarter 20th century. A Thomas Jefferson (model #610-317) limited edition mahogany with inlay grandfather or floor clock having a split swan neck pediment centered with urn finial over an inlaid freeze and arched glazed and beveled door opening to a conforming polished brass dial with pierced scrolled corner spandrels, applied Roman numerals and Arabic minute markers with pierced center disc permitting a view of the movement, the trunk with simulated mercury vial pendulum and a triple chime, cable-driven movement with three sets of chimes: Whittington, St Michael, West Minister, at the quarter hour. Glazed door is flanked by a pair of reeded columns with brass caps. Clock is raised on ogee bracket feet. Dial is marked Howard Miller with edition # 1536. Movement is also stamped for Howard Miller along with serial number. Paper label to interior back with model number. Approximate height 86.5", width 24.75", depth 14.75".
