Description
French, 19th century. A superb pair of gilt bronze and white marble cassolettes, each with pineapple finials on dome lid cover inverting to reveal the candle sockets, the urn with ram's head and monopod legs terminating in hoof feet united by draping floral swags, raised on a circular beaded base and three toupie feet. Approximate height 11.75", diameter of base 3.5". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Ms. Peggy Woodruff of Atlanta, Georgia and Highlands, North Carolina.
Condition
One cassolette with chip/loss to lid (see image #6) and loose draping floral swag. The other cassolette with small chip to lid and likely repair. Both with oxidation to gilt bronze and minor wear to base commensurate with age and usage.
