Description
Chinese, Ming Dynasty Xuande Period mark (1426-1435), circa late 19th/ early 20th century. A pair of Chinese Export porcelain vases in the Western taste, each comprising a spreading saucer foot issuing an urn form body with incurvate shoulder under tall cylindrical neck, the whole with cobalt blue underglaze hand painted on white ground with meandering vines, peony flowers, leaf tips, and a phoenix & dragon motif. Each marked to neck in blue underglaze with six character mark for the Xuande imperial reign. Approximate height 11.25", diameter of foot 5.875".
