Description
An older Alco builder's plate with serial number 1784. Dated August 1901. This was Bangor & Aroostook Railroad road number 61. It was a 4-6-0. It was sold to the Belfast & Moosehead Lake. The plate is an unusual design with 4 mounting holes on the curved body. The corners are rounded. This was at a time when the American Locomotive Company added the subsidiary names like Manchester or Richmond. A previous owner painted the BAR and other data on the back. It measures 15 5/8" by 6 1/4". There are some dings and marks on the bolt holes. This plate is from our long time Alco collector, consignor.
