Description
WORDSWORTH WILLIAM: (1770-1850) English Romantic Poet who served as Poet Laureate 1843-50. A fine A.Q.S., Wm. Wordsworth, one page, oblong 8vo, Rydal Mount, 15th March 1844. The poet has penned a quotation of two lines, in full, 'For You each evening hath its shining star/ And every Sabbath day its golden sun'. Signed and dated by Wordsworth at the foot. Professionally matted in cream beneath a colour reproduction image of the poet to an overall size of 10 x 12. VG Wordsworth's quotation is taken from his long poem The Excursion: Being a portion of The Recluse, a poem which was first published in 1814. It had been intended as the second part of The Recluse, an unfinished larger work which was also supposed to have included Wordsworth's other long poem The Prelude, however this was eventually published posthumously.
