Francis Bacon, one of the most famous English philosophers and scientists of the Renaissance. While most of his work deals with discovery, scientific method, and the scientific revolution, he did lean strongly toward Puritanism in his personal devotion.
An extremely rare first edition printing of the works of Bacon under the title ‘Baconiana’. This work, published by Chiswell and edited by Thomas Tenison, is printed in five complete parts with separate title pages, each with Latin titles – ‘Politico-moralia’, ‘Physiologica’, ‘Medica’, ‘Theologica’, and ‘Bibliographica’.
