TIN CHILDREN'S ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a tin and wood toy drum with original wooden drum sticks, and a paint-decorated tin "Waterman's Patent Tray For Children" with original label bearing 1863 and 1869 patent dates. Second half 19th century. Drum 7 1/4" H, 8" D.
Drum with both heads intact and wear to finish on tin, tray with loss to paint. Each with Granny label.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned from a Virginia institution to benefit the collections and conservation funds._x000D_
From the multi-generational family collection of the late Miss Mattie D. Spotswood (1885-1891) of "Stirling Castle", 320 High St., Petersburg, VA, a descendent of Gov. Alexander Spotswood.
