AMERICAN COUNTRY CLASSICAL FIGURED MAPLE ROCKING CHAIR, having boldly shaped crest rail and arms, woven cane seat. Early surface with rich color. Together with a Classical figured maple cane-seat side chair, now converted to a rocker, in refinished surface. Two pieces total. Circa 1845. Larger example 43" HOA, 18" x 21" seat.
Good overall condition with minor usage wear, seats replaced. Smaller example with cracks and repair to crest rail.
Provenance: From the collection of Dr. and Mrs. John "Jack" McAllister, Winchester, VA.
