Description
1st ed. 1832 shape-note book: The Christian’s Harp, Sam’l Wakefield
A very scarce and interesting piece of Americana. Scarce first (thus) edition of a shape-note tune book. The book has some faults so it is being offered at a bargain price. The spine is split down the middle--the two sides of the book are held together with one binding string. Pages 49-52 and 61-110 are missing from the book. Pages 53-60 are detached but present. Tips are worn through and the cover printing is faded almost to illegibility. There is much rubbing through to the edges of the paper covers. Occasional foxing throughout. An extremely scarce book at a bargain price. 4.5 x 7.
Please note that this lot has a confidential reserve. When you leave a bid in advance of the auction, submit your maximum. Jasper52 will bid on your behalf as much as necessary to ensure that you meet the reserve price or that you remain in the lead, up to your maximum. The bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot, provided the bid exceeds the reserve price.
