Description
Yizchak Ben-Zvi (1884-1963) Israeli politican leader. When Israel gained its independence, Ben-Zvi was among the signers of its Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948. He served in the First and Second Knesset for the Mapai party. He was elected President of Israel in 1952, and continued to serve in the position until his death in 1963. .He believed that the president should set an example for the public and his home should reflect the austerity of the times. For over 26 years, he and his family lived in a wooden hut in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem. 8 ½” x 11” official document in Hebrew, with translation, signed, government stationery, April 10, 1955, “Transitional Law 1949…I…President of the State, pardon here Nathan Neumann from the transgretion for which he was fined….” Approved by the Justice Minister.
