American, 20th century. A group of forty pieces of sterling flatware by Whiting Mfg. Co. in the "Louis XV" pattern, including twelve dinner forks (lg. 7.25 in.), eleven teaspoons (lg. 5.75 in.), six luncheon forks (lg. 6.75 in.), six dinner knives with sterling handles and stainless blades (lg. 8 in.), one butter spreader (lg. 7.25 in.), one pierced serving spoon (lg. 6.25 in.), one sugar spoon (lg. 5.75 in.), one child's spoon (lg. 5 in.), and one children's fork (lg. 6 in.); each marked for maker, STERLING, and PAT 1881; total weighable silver wt. 40.785ozt (1268.56g).
