Description
A silver necklace with an 18th century jade Bi disc attached as a pendant. The front is carved with a chilong and ruyi. The reverse is carved with geometric patterns.
Dimensions are 2 1/2 inches tall X 24 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From the estate of Yu Nianci and Zhang Chengji. Yu Nianci is the daughter of Yu Youren. Zhang Chenji is the son of Zhang Dulun, a Nationalist general. They married in 1948 and emigrated to the United States in 1951. Zhang is a well-known Buddhist scholar, and has taught at several universities in the United States and published a number of books on the subject.
