Distemper on cloth, framed in a silk brocade mounting with embroiderey partly in gold threads. Tibet, 18th century

Finely painted depiction of the multi-armed yidam Chakrasamvara with his consort Vajravarahi in 'yab yum' embrace in an mandorla of orange-red flames, standing in alidhasana with several bodies under his feet, in an idealized landscape setting. The body of Chakrasamvara is depicted with blue skin on the right half and green on the left. The multiple heads with tall crown adorned with skulls and wearing a tiger skin with skull necklaces and various richly embellished jewelery. His primary hands holding a pair of vajras and embrace the consort Vajravarahi, the auxiliary hands with various ornaments such as weapons, scepters or feathers. On his lap is his consort Vajravarahi, depicted with a red body, one face, two hands and three eyes. Her left arm embracing Chakrasamvara and the right holds a curved knife extended upwards, she wears a corresponding crown and skull necklace and embraces him with both legs. The main group is standing on a lotus pedestal with 3 magic jewels. In each of the lower corners a depiction of the dancing skeleton Citipati in a blue mandorla with orange-red flames. On top a central depiction of Buddha Vajradhara (Abibuddha) with blue body and red halo, holding a pair of vajras and seated on a lotus base encircled by blossoms and large leaves. Vajradhara is framed by two mahasiddhas seated on a blue throne with red halos and holding a kapala (skulcup). The thangka inscribed on the back in Tibetan script.

Condition: Age-related condition, losses in the green color and wear, one central vertical crack and some smaller ones.

橘紅色火焰背光前,脚踏幾個身體。勝樂金剛右半邊皮
膚為藍,左邊綠色。多頭,頭頂十字金刚杵,身著老虎皮,
飾有項鏈和各種精美飾品。幾隻手各持不同寶物伸向兩
側。勝樂亥母紅色身體,一張臉,兩隻手,三隻眼睛。她
的左臂擁抱著勝樂金剛,右手持向上的弧形刀,頭戴相
應金剛冠,頸上有骷髏項鏈,雙腿盤在主尊腰間。蓮花座
上有寶珠。每個角上有藍色曼陀羅帶著橘紅色火焰,中
有舞蹈中的骷髏。正中間執金剛神藍色身體紅色背光。
一對朝聖者坐在蓮花上包圍這花和大葉子。執金剛神被
大成就者圍繞著坐在一個藍色寶座上手持卡帕啦。唐卡
背面有藏文。
