Framed Lithograph Poster of Christo's The Gates, NYC, 2005. Christo and Jeanne-Claude (Javacheff) developed the concept for The Gates in 1979. This is an offset lithograph poster of that project in Central Park, New York City that opened on February 12, 2005, and remained up through February 27, 2005. The project included 7,500 gates that were 16 feet high, and lined 23 miles of footpaths in the park. The project was comprised of free-hanging, saffron-colored fabric panels that were suspended from the top of each gate, hanging down to 7 feet above the ground and stationed 12 feet apart. The Gates created a visual golden river appearing and disappearing through the trees, highlighting the shapes of the footpaths.
