Description
Here is a truly fantastic extraordinarily rare very large Native American Papago Tohono O'odham lidded basket. The symmetry is amazing and this basket not only took many years to complete but it was made by a true master weaver. The weave is very tight. It has a nice polychrome design in browns, tannish yellows and natural tan. The split stitch pattern is made from beargrass, yucca and devils claw. The designs are of Cacti, birds and deer. It is completely covered in design all the way around. The lid also is perfect with an amazingly done handle and a four point star pattern. The lid fits nice and snug and is perfectly made to fit. The wear is minimal all over and this is considered excellent condition. Baskets this size are as rare as they come and this one in particular is the best of the best. Really unique eye catching basket you can't miss it in a room it is a major highlight. Would make a topper to any collection. It measures 19 inches tall X 17 inches wide. The dollar in pictures is just for size comparison as it is hard to tell how truly enormous this basket is just from the pictures. It comes with a card of authenticity. Please email any questions.
