A complete service for 12 of 107 pieces of Pre-Nazi M.T. Wetzlar Art Deco German .800 Silver Flatware, c. 1930. 148 Troy Ounces not counting the steel bladed pieces noted. Heavy gauge Moderne design comprising twelve each of the following: steel bladed place knives, place forks, salad forks, place spoons, fish knives, fish forks, and teaspoons; also 6 steel bladed fruit knives, and 17 servings pieces - 4 large oval serving spoons, a pair of round bowl serving spoons, a pair of ladles, a pair of serving forks, a pair of meat forks, a large serving fork, 2 servers, a butter knife and a spreader.
NOTE: The Jewish maker was favored by customers from the upper echelons of Munich society and was appointed “Purveyor to the Court of Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria in 1907.
Despite the Wetzlars´ four sons service as Bavarian army officers under Rupprecht in the First World War, the firm was "Aryanised" by the Nazis in 1938.
Most pieces from the M.T. Wetzlar family workshop have vanished, but surviving examples were exhibited at the
Münchner Stadtmuseum in 17 August 2014 with an accompanying catalogue.
