Description

ATLAS DESSINS DU MANUSCRIT EGYPTIEN: ALEXANDRE LENOIR, 1812. Paris (Josephine's "Book of the Dead" of Egypt), volume of 8 hand drawn pen & ink and hand colored illustrations. The last illustration artsist signed and dated 1807Presumed to have been produced expressly for the Empress Josephine for her personal antique collection which was curated by Alexandre Lenoir, includes a copy of the letter from Musee National Du Chateanu de Malsaison, dated 1982, who personally examined the book and verified its authenticity. Original embossed paper covered boards with marbled end papers and later suede leather folio cover, 11 inches x 17 inches (43 x 28 cm).

Fair to good condition overall. The cover with edge-wear chipping and minor surface losses. Hinges partially broke at covers but still intact. Interior pages good with some minor chipping.
