Description

A remarkable old carved wooden male figure shown seated on bench and with a great big smile, in his hands he holds an open book, presumably a Bible. The Kongo peoples have been influenced by missionary colonist for centuries and often their artwork reflects this, however I have not seen a more charming example from this region. Measures 14.75 inches tall on professional quality display stand ( 12.5 inches statue itself)

Weathered, small area of erosion on bible, overall intact and in Good / fair condition.
