A tan Londontowne trench coat owned by Gary Powers c.1960's.
Powers' heavy duty cotton trench coat has raglan sleeves and the stitching detail of a bygone era. The coat has only one visible button next to the neck. The other four remain hidden inside the coat to create a sleek buttonless look. The trench also features a removable insulated linen and silk liner, making it adjustable for any weather.
Developed for Army officers, such as Powers, popularized by spy films, and worn by everyone from Humphrey Bogart to Inspector Clouseau, the trench coat has been a fashion staple since the 1940's.Manufactured by Londontowne Corporation and made in Korea, it has all original tags. Size 44 long.
Francis Gary Powers was a distinguished pilot for the CIA's U-2 program during the height of the Cold War.
