Description
After Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989), "Seventy-Three", color serigraph on paper, limited edition noted lower right as "231/275 I", titled lower center, "Destino WALTER E. DISNEY SALVADOR DALI" embossed lower left, Dali's signature with 1946 date within plate matrix lower right. Image depicting a Corinthian architectural capital at center of a Surrealist landscape with classical sculptural fragments and walls, clouded form with gold coin medallions on front. Framed approximately 35" x 39.75"". Sight size approximately 21.25" x 25.75". Note: "Destino (Destiny)" began as a collaborative film project between Walt Disney Studios and the artist, Salvador Dali in 1945 and 1946. The animation piece was put on and was later picked up by Roy E. Disney in 1999. Walt Disney Studios Paris continued work on the project and later released the six-minute short animated film in 2003. The film was nominated for the 2003 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. It also has been shown at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate Modern in London.
