Description
The Seven Days of Creation, a series of original drawings by Ze'ev Raban, for memorial candle plaques. [ca. 1927].
Ink and watercolor on paper. Signed with the studio stamp, "Ze'ev Raban, Workshop for Industrial Art (formerly Gur-Aryeh and Raban), Bezalel, Jerusalem". Markings and handwritten comments on some of the drawings.
Eight colorful drawings depicting the Seven Days of Creation (two different drawings for the Sixth Day). Two of the drawings are on tracing paper.
These drawings were used to prepare brass plaques decorating a memorial candle designed by Ze'ev Raban (today at the Short Hills community, New Jersey. See image).
6 leaves (two of the leaves contain two drawings per leaf, one on each side). Drawings approx. 21.5X7.5 cm; leaves 25X10 cm to 13X24 cm. Each leaf attached to passe-partout. Condition varies. Stains. Creases and a number of small tears. Open tears, repaired, to margins of some of the leaves (without damage to drawings).
