Description
American, New York, third quarter 19th century. An Empire style pier table, having a square form with a white marble top, mounted with gilt metal acanthine rinceau molding and foliated ormolu, with figural Winged Victory supports terminating in paw feet. Old inventory label underneath marble top. Approximate height 37.75", width 46", depth 17.125". Provenance: Purportedly originally from the house of the President of Princeton University.
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Mirror has been replaced. One wing is loose and needs to be tightened. Some nicks, dings, abrasions, and minor losses to veneer overall as expected, particularly to base. Some staining to veneer, particularly under ormolu. Some minor scratching and wear to marble. A bit dusty. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
