Description
Attrbuted Jean-Jacques Werner (1791-1849), first quarter 19th century. A fine giltwood carved fauteuil decorated with acanthus leaves, rosettes and palmettes, the scrolled armrests resting on turned, tapered and lotus carved supports united by a bowfront seat rail. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 38.37", width 26.87" (arm to arm), seat depth 20", seat height 18.75". Note: A similar chair was formerly included in the Carlhian collection "Cabinetmakers of the nineteenth century" Denise Ledoux-Lebard, The Editions of the Amateur Paris 1984, p.629.
