PILLAR-MOLDED LARGE OPEN COMPOTE, colorless lead glass, deep hemispherical bowl with eight pronounced ribs, raised on an applied baluster-form stem and thick circular foot with a polished pontil mark. Attributed to the Pittsburgh area. 1850-1870. 8 1/2" H, 10 1/4" D rim, 6 1/2" D foot.
Undamaged with moderate overall wear. A couple of manufacturing imperfections to the highpoint of the ribs, as made.
