Eva Zeisel, a rare bird-form Bowl and Ladle, Fish and Fowl pattern, Eva Zeisel Fine Stoneware, Monmouth Pottery, Western Stoneware Company, Monmouth, Illinois, circa 1953-1954. Standard blue backstamp. Height of Bowl: 4 ¾ in. (12 cm), length of Bowl: 7 3/4 in. (20 cm); length of Ladle: 11 1/4 in. (28.5 cm). 1620-065
Provenance: Estate of Bette Cooper
Note: Bette Cooper, co-author of Monmouth Western Stoneware (1983), was an unofficial archivist for the factory and collected examples of these works, including test pieces, as they came off the line. Overall very good condition. Small inherent glaze flaw to underside of bird-form handle.
