1896 US $2 "Educational" silver certificate, depicting the allegory of Science presenting Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacture, obverse. Engraved by Charles Schlecht (United States/Germany, b. 1843) and George Frederick Cumming Smillie (District of Columbia, 1854-1924) after designs by Edwin H. Blashfield (New York/Massachusetts, 1848-1936), figures, and Thomas F. Morris, frame and background. Portraits of Robert Fulton and Samuel F.B. Morse, reverse. Engraved by Lorenzo J. Hatch (New York/Vermont, 1857-1914). Serial # 12087730/ pp B. FR # 248. Bruce/Roberts signatures. PMG graded 64/Choice Uncirculated. Provenance: the collection of the late James A.
