A CASED GROUP OF TWO CARVED MEERSCHAUM PIPES AND A FIGURE, CIRCA 1870-1890, comprising a single block carved figure of a boy sitting astride the square section base with drilled back, carved amber stem with threaded silvered metal cuff, height: 1 7/8", width: 5", depth: 7/8"; a single block carved figure of a boy wearing a stocking cap sitting astride the square section base with drilled back, carved amber stem with silvered metal cuff, height: 1 7/8", width: 4 3/8", depth: 7/8"; and a carved figure of a young girl, possibly Alice in Wonderland, sitting on a carved log affixed to the bottom of the woodland theme ebonized wood front and top hinged case with green felted lining and curled yarn, with presentation plaque inscribed "Francois Dumoulin," height: 3 1/4", width: 7 1/8", depth: 3"; with separate chimney. NOTE: The base of the two pipes, when placed in the case, becomes a sea-saw (with removal of the threaded amber stem on the figure without a hat).

The two pipe bowls with indications of moderate use, the drilled back of the boy without hat chipped, metal cuffs with creasing and wear.
