AN ITALIAN EMPIRE STYLE PARCEL GILT MAHOGANY MARBLE TOP CONSOLE, MODERN, the breakfront highly figured salmon marble top with a molded edge, over an acanthus leaf guilloché frieze centering acanthus leaf tendril scrolls and fan, raised on four Egyptian Revival style columnar supports, with palm leaf bell form capitals, over twisted, tapered, leaf carved columns, surmounting lobed balls, terminating in acanthus leaf ends, all on tapered leaf carved feet on flat pads, joined by a breakfront lower shaped stretcher shelf, fitted with inset shaped highly figured salmon marbles, and centered by a relief quatrefoil, leafy medallion, with a dramatic nail head form trimmed edge. A few areas with mild polish wear on the top, likely from moisture exposure; some minor chips, abrasions and losses to the gilt and gesso occasionally throughout, but mostly on the lower half of the piece, and some white colored spots at the back and under the interior woods. Overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
