Mammoth plate albumen photograph. 52.2x39.9 cm (20¾x15¾"), on original plain cardstock mount.

Inscribed in pencil on the back of the mount, at lower right, "113 Section of the Grizzly Giant 33 ft. Diam. Mariposa (?) Grove 2 113 Watkins." We have not been able to confirm that the inscription is in Watkins' hand.

Condition

Foxing to the mount intruding a bit into the image, which also has some fading; very good.
